I need help making mallets!?
I am a college Music Major and as one, I don’t have much money. I was wonder, does anyone know how to make mallets
? Marimba mallets, timpani mallets, and bass mallets? Anything would help!
Marimba mallets:
Drill a hole into a super ball, glue either birch or rattan handle into the
super ball. Use 3m electrical tape to hold the beginning of the yarn onto the handle right at the point that it meets the super ball.
By examining store bought mallets you can see the wrapping pattern. Experiment with different yarns and different super balls for different weights (and colors)
We’ve had some luck using tennis balls and racket balls on cut broom handles and wrapped with yarn for bass and tam tam mallets.
