I was hoping that someone could tell me the difference in sound of jazz drum sets and standard drum sets?
What do you reccomend? Which sounds better in your op
inion?
Jazz sets are usually smaller than what you call standard, but I think you mean rock sets. the bass drum is usually 20 inches or smaller and with only two toms. The toms are usually small too.
The drums are tuned tighter than rock, you get a quicker bounce with tight skins.
With most jazz musicians, it’s more about clarity and precision than it is about volume.
