My Snare wires on my Snare Drum?
Heres the Story:
I was expiermenting with my snare drum, or the snare wires, to prevent this highly anoying rattling sound i get when i strike the BASS DRUM with my bass pedal, and when i
strike all 3 of my toms, 2 tom toms and 1 floor tom. I was trying to get rid of that soung by tightning the snare wire on both sides of my drum. I try my hardest to tighten it but
it like never works out. I tighten and tighten, and then, i ended up, when i striked the snare drum, the sanre drum would rattle the sanre wires.
Can someone help please? Like, what do i need to do?
There’s not really much you can do about it actually. It’s the wires in the snare drum that give it it’s distinctive “snap” sound. If you tighten them too much the snare will lose it’s sound and possibly break the wires.
If it really seems to be a defect I’d suggest taking it to wherever you got the drums. They should be willing to take a look at it free of charge and tell you if you actually have a problem or if it’s normal.
It sounds like it’s a natural sound that snare drums make, honestly. My old drummer’s snare rattled constantly, and his was a $400 snare on a $2500 kit, so it wasn’t lack of quality that caused it.
I really think it’s just the sound snare drums make in response to vibration while they’re not actually being played.
