oh yeah-if you built it right and know what your doin-like roller cam /lifters,the right pistons/heads/intake/exaust/carb/headers/exaust/tranny/stall converter-that kinda thing you can high damn good performance on pump gas-i seen another question of yours about nitrous or a supercharger-i knew a guy in georgia that had a naturally asperated pump gas no nitrous 383 in a 70 1/2 split bumper camaro that ran tires in the back that were probably 15″ wide and he could kick it sideways at 40 mph-it was like a top fuel dragster it spun wheels the whole time he raced folks and never lost still-he used to always take out little blown and nitrous mustangs and still won races- so yeah you can build just a motor with nothing else on it and only a single 4 barrel carb and get great performance as long as you know what your doin-if not start studing-if ya put wrong parts together it can be expensive and hazardous -hope this helps ya
