Ram problem and Bios update. I recently bought a 1gb apacer 66mhz RAM to pair with the same 1gb apacer 667mhz?
RAM that I have on my pc. My problem is my pc crashes and I get the blue screen whenever I pair both. I also believe that there could be no problem with both ram modules because when I pair either one of them with a 512mb I don’t get any crashes. So I thought there could be a problem with my motherboard (Gigabyte ga-vm900m rev: 1.0 which can supports 667mhz memory) so I went to the manufacturer’s website and they gave me this reply:
“Please first update latest BIOS F6 . Meanwhile, use of a 1066/ 800 MHz FSB CPU (I’m using pentium d 2.66ghz cpu with 800 mhz FSB)is required if you wish to install DDR2 667 MHz memory.”
And that’s exactly what I did.
My problem is after I downloaded the bios F6 update I just don’t know how to install it.
My OS is Windows Vista Ultimate, by the way.
Will that solution provided by my motherboard’s manufacturer really work? Also, is there a proper way to install bios F6 update? I need help, please. Thank you.
Bios are sometime tricky you have to install from the boot or you can install from a Windows environment( when windows is running) but your mobo has to support the bios being updated while windows is running . That is the easiest way to do it but if you have to what’s called Flashing the BIOS and you do it wrong or you have
the wrong bios or anything in slightest wrong you will have a oversized paper weight. have you tried 1stick at a time by themselves and with the 512mb sticks and they work then you know all the sticks are fine. There use to be a program to run from windows to update the BIOS called WINFLASH you can do a search on how to use it if you mobo does not support it will not upgrade your computer and screw you up. I have used it several times and it seems to work pretty well…THnaks
