How much do you think a drum kit will cost? (new)?
I like to play percussion instruments but I’m thinking about moving to the drums. How much do you think a new one will be?
drums ARE in fact percussion 
but to answer your question, a shell pack will run 300-500$ for a beginner set.
the additional hardware and cymbals that you’ll also need run an extra 200-400 for beginner stuff. it can add up really quickly as any drummer will tell you.
its also possible to find complete sets for 300-400, but these are, in general, very cheaply made pieces of crap. then again, a true beginner doesnt need all that much to start out.
