these countries and territories?
How many deaths is this colonizing power responsible for?
1)…Many of the places you cite were violent before being colonised. In some cases the phase of colonisation brought relative peace and stability; now the occupying power has gone, normal service is resumed.
Examples: Pakistan and the NW frontier where occupation did not halt (nothing could or can halt border Pakistanis & Afghans who want a fight) but contained and limited the killing. Similarly, Kashmir, Burma and Sierra Leone, when colonised, had relative peace between spells of their normal turbulent foreign and internecine warfare.
2)…Some of your examples are not currently violent or seriously contentious. There is no fighting in Gibraltar. Scotland is now (as it was not before 1700) peaceful. The Falklands are at peace, as they usually are. Even in Ireland, that Afghanistan of the Western World, there is, thanks to British occupation and political chicanery, a sort of peace; the heirs of Collins and de Valera are an emasculated remnant of a fighting past, cruising about in their limousines and enjoying the trappings (but no more) of power.
In a word, your thesis does not stand up to any sort of examination.
