I can use my head through my head G1 resonant and strong. For the bass I use a pasta 2 Evans EMAD head, and put a strip of felt under the skin to eliminate harmonic resonance. It is important not to give the drum head too loose. If the heads are under too loose, the bass is silent.
Also, make sure that the heads are set consistently. If the head is regulated differently in each leg, you will not get a good punch. If you do not want to buy an EMAD head 2 there are other options.
